We initially crossed paths as colleagues, discovering a shared commitment to authenticity in our practice.
We're big on nature, real talks, and cutting through the BS.
As proud mums navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood, we value the importance of empathy, compassion and a touch of humor.
Candice is our registered Psychologist, bringing a depth of experience in therapy and assessments for children, adolescents and adults.
Her calling to neuropsychology and child development was sparked during her time at the Neurocognitive Development Unit, as an honours student of the University of Western Australia. Candice immersed herself in Child and Adolescent Psychology in both NGO community and private practice settings and trained in an array of approaches including cognitive-behavioural, trauma informed and attachment based therapies. She has undertaken specialist training in Autism Assessment and is also available for ADHD, cognitive and learning assessments. She is dedicated to delivering her assessments with an affirming, thorough and strengths-focused approach.
Candice spent a considerable part of her early career providing psychological care to adolescents and adults with acute mental health difficulties. She made significant contributions to the justice and corrections sector as Manager of a Psychological Wellbeing Prison Service where she provided clinical governance and consultation.
Candice is clinical supervisor to a number of psychologists and allied health professionals. In addition to her work at House of Mind, Candice values her role as Principal Psychologist at the Child Wellbeing Centre. She is an AHPRA board-approved Supervisor who has proudly supported many Provisional Psychologists to achieve their full registration.
Candice offers a warm, down-to-earth approach to psychological services. At the heart of her approach is the neuroscience of belonging, safety and connection. She is a superstar at helping people form healthy boundaries in their lives; If it costs you your inner peace, it's too expensive.
Kate is our go to girl for all things therapy. She kicked off her journey with a Criminology and Legal Studies degree, followed by a Masters of Social Work at the University of Western Australia back in 2014. Since then she’s been soaking up experiences in both correctional and community settings, navigating the complexities of mental health with finesse. Early on Kate delved into the world of clinical assessment and intervention, working with adults and teens facing mental health challenges in prisons across Western Australia and Victoria. This experience sparked a passion for early intervention and supporting families on a broader scale.
Kate began working for Berry Street Victoria where she provided clinical assessment and therapy to address the impact of trauma on children who experienced abuse, neglect, family violence or other adverse experiences. In addition, Kate has regularly provided specialist consultation, assessment and testimony to the Department of Child Protection, education and judicial systems.
Kate is trained in a range of evidence based modalities including schema therapy, EMDR, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) narrative therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). She draws from neurobiological, family systems, psychodynamic and attachment theory principles.
Kate has a natural gift when working with parents and caregivers who are struggling with the throws of raising children, helping them to develop insight and skills and to turn tough moments into opportunities for growth. Kate also has particular interest in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, complex trauma and grief and loss. Kate offers supervision to qualified social workers and students completing postgraduate studies.
Central to Kate’s work is understanding the relationships we have with ourselves and others in order to fulfill our greatest potential.
Kate is a member of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW), an accredited Mental Health Social Worker and an approved Medicare Provider.
